Exam for complex cases
Full case assessment. During a full case assessment examination, we will spend time with you to discuss the reasons you have been referred to us for more complex treatment. We will undertake a thorough examination to determine the presence of tooth decay, gum disease, wear or erosion and other conditions which may affect your tongue or cheeks.
We will then focus on the reason for your referral and explore this further. This will normally involve radiographs, impressions for study casts and photographs along with a detailed assessment of your bite. These assessments will help us understand your problems better and form an appropriate treatment plan.
If the case is complex you will normally receive a written report detailing the findings and any recommended treatment options with an estimate of treatment costs. Once the report has been received you will have an opportunity to discuss treatment options with your dentist before any treatment begins.
