RESTORATIVE DENTAL TREATMENTS AT TORRINGTON DENTAL PRACTICE
At Torrington Dental Practice, we take pride in offering comprehensive restorative dental treatments. These treatments reflect our commitment to high-quality dental care. Restorative dentistry is a specialised field that addresses a wide range of oral health issues. Restorative dentistry focuses on the study, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions affecting the teeth, gums, and other supporting structures. Beyond simply restoring health and function, our approach also emphasises enhancing the aesthetic appeal of your smile.
Leading our restorative dental treatments is Rhys Gabe, a highly skilled and experienced restorative dentist. Rhys is an Associate Specialist in Restorative dentistry with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. With his expertise, our team ensures that each patient receives tailored care that meets their unique dental needs. Rhys’s dedication to excellence in restorative dentistry guarantees you are in capable hands and receiving the highest standard of care.
Comprehensive Care in Restorative Dentistry
Restorative dental treatments at Torrington Dental Practice encompass several dental mono specialities, including:
- Endodontics: Treatment of the dental pulp and root canals.
- Periodontics: Care of the gums and supporting structures.
- Prosthodontics: Restoration and replacement of teeth.
A significant component of our restorative services is implantology, which focuses on the placement and management of dental implants. Our integrated approach ensures that these disciplines work together seamlessly. Having experts in both disciplines enables us to effectively manage complex dental cases that require multifaceted care. This collaboration ensures that all aspects of your oral health are addressed, leading to comprehensive and effective treatment outcomes.
Restoring and Enhancing Your Smile
Restorative dentistry is crucial in maintaining and restoring the natural integrity of your oral health. Whether you’re facing issues like tooth decay, enamel erosion, or tooth loss, our restorative dental treatments offer tailored solutions designed to repair and fully restore the functionality of your teeth. At the same time, we focus on enhancing their aesthetic appearance.
We use advanced materials and state-of-the-art techniques to rebuild and reinforce affected teeth. For instance, our carefully crafted fillings and crowns are designed to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, providing both durability and visual appeal. Our dental implants and bridges are also meticulously designed to replace missing teeth, restoring your ability to chew, speak, and smile confidently, all while preserving the natural harmony of your facial features.

When you choose Torrington Dental Practice for your restorative dental treatment, you entrust your oral health to a team dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care. With Rhys Gabe leading our services, you can be confident that your treatment will be both comprehensive and personalised.

IMPLANTS
CROWNS
A dental crown fits over your natural teeth to protect and secure the remaining part of the tooth. They could be needed when a cavity is so large that a filling will not work, or because a tooth has been weakened significantly by tooth decay. The crown wraps around the whole natural tooth to help secure what remains of it.
Crowns vary in colour. They can be gold, porcelain, ceramic or a mixture of materials. Each of these materials have their own benefits and you should discuss these with your dentist.
Crowns are custom made to fit over your teeth exactly. Moulds will need to be taken of your tooth, which is then used to make the crown. This normally takes a couple of weeks and, whilst it is being prepared, you will need to wear a temporary crown.
Once your permanent crown is fitted you can expect it to last for many years but it will require looking after and a proper dental hygiene routine.
Modern cosmetic crowns can be very lifelike and can be used to replace the front teeth.
ONLAYS
Inlays and onlays are restorative dentistry treatments that provide a solution in between fillings and crowns.
They can be used to strengthen a tooth whilst removing less tooth than a conventional crown. They are more durable and usually last longer than fillings.
Dental inlays and onlays can be tooth-coloured or gold, and the material choice will depend on its purpose. You should discuss this with your dentist.
BRIDGES
A bridge is a fixed way of replacing missing teeth. It can be resin-retained or conventional.
Resin retained bridges can be bonded to a tooth without any removal of tooth substance. As they require no tooth preparation they are becoming increasingly popular.
Conventional bridges require preparation of the tooth similar to that for a crown. They can replace a missing tooth either from one tooth alone or from two teeth either side of the missing tooth or teeth. They are very robust but do require significant removal of tooth substance.
Your dentist will be able to advise you of the best option for your treatment.
DENTURES
Dentures are removable ways of replacing missing teeth. They can be supported by the gums (plastic) or teeth (metal). They are mainly used when several teeth are to be replaced in one jaw and can provide a very economic treatment compared to other forms of tooth replacement.
Dentures can also be used in conjunction with implant treatment to restore many teeth. All dentures have to be removed regularly for cleaning of the dentures, teeth and gums to prevent tooth decay, gum disease or mouth infection.
Dentures can replace some teeth (partial) or all teeth (full) and help patients to eat, speak, function and improve appearance. Your dentist will be able to advise of the best choice for your treatment.
IMPLANTS
For the past 20 years, Torrington Dental Practice has been providing dental implants to patients in Devon, Cornwall, and beyond. During that time, we have placed over 3,000 implants, with patients referred from more than 70 regional practices.
We’re proud of our reputation as one of the UK’s top implant practices, but conscious that not many people in Devon are aware of it! So, we have launched Devon Dental Implant Centre within Torrington Dental Practice to highlight our implant expertise and provide a clearer signpost to our practice for those in need of treatment.
AESTHETIC DENTISTRY
In addition to restorative dentistry, we also offer aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry treatments. For more information on the treatments offered at the practice, such as orthodontic treatment, tooth whitening, composite bonding, and dental veneers, visit the link below:
