Mr Shaun Hodge provides dedicated management of gum disease (periodontitis) and implant dentistry at Torrington Dental. His referral service supports general dentists and hygienists with complex periodontal and implant cases, combining clinical precision with a patient-centred, reassuring approach
Shaun graduated from the University of Bristol in 2015, completing Foundation Training near his home city of Cardiff.
He went on to work as an Oral and Maxillofacial Senior House Officer at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where he gained valuable experience in surgical dentistry, trauma and treating patients with complex medical needs. He is also a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow.
Shaun’s clinical focus is the management of gum disease (periodontitis) and implant dentistry. He has gained advanced training in these fields, completing the Royal College of Surgeons England’s Masterclass in Periodontics, followed by a Master’s Degree in Dental Implantology from Cardiff University.
Shaun is passionate about the strong link between oral health and overall well-being, and this belief underpins his approach to patient care. Shaun enjoys building long-term relationships with his patients, supporting them step by step on their journey to healthier gums and a healthier life.
Alongside his clinical work, Shaun is an active member of the British Society of Periodontology. He has won the BSP Audit Prize, published research in the British Dental Journal, and works as an Honorary Research Fellow with the University of Bristol’s Clinical Trials Unit. He also shares his expertise by leading postgraduate study clubs for dentists across South-West Wales.
Shaun’s interest in dentistry began after a surfing injury in his teenage years required advanced dental treatment. Experiencing the difference that high-quality care can make has shaped his empathetic and patient-focused approach to dentistry.
