Sammy Holt

GENERAL DENTISTRY, ORAL SURGERY

GDC Number: 278489

BDS (Hons) MSc OralSurg (PUPSMD) DipImpDent (CADI) AssocFCGDent

Originally from the picturesque Isle of Man, Sammy joined our team in 2019. His journey began in Cardiff, where he qualified as a dentist in 2018.

Following his qualification, he spent a formative year in a training post in general dental practice in South Wales. During this time, he earned high praise and recommendations for his caring and conscientious approach to dentistry.

The move from Cardiff to North Devon was inspired by his now-wife Alice, who is originally from Barnstaple. She had little trouble convincing him to relocate, and they now enjoy the lifestyle North Devon offers.

Oral Surgery

Sammy is passionate about all aspects of general dentistry, with a particular interest in oral surgery and working with anxious patients. His dedication to patient care is evident in his ability to help nervous patients feel at ease, ensuring they have a positive and comfortable experience.

Committed to his profession, he continually enhances his skills and knowledge. He recently completed his postgraduate MSc in Oral Surgery at the Peninsula Dental School, University of Plymouth, further solidifying his expertise in this field.

Conscious Sedation

Beyond his MSc, Sammy has undertaken training in conscious sedation. This additional training allows him to work closely with our sedation team, treating highly anxious patients referred from North Devon and the wider area. His ability to provide sedation services is a testament to his commitment to comprehensive patient care.

Clinical Supervisor

Dedicated to the education and mentorship of future dental professionals, Sammy serves as a Clinical Supervisor with Plymouth University, teaching and supervising undergraduate dental students in Exeter. This role lets him share his knowledge and experience, helping to train the next generation of dentists. This is important because there is a high demand for more dentists in the area. By mentoring new professionals, he helps ensure there are enough skilled dentists to meet the increasing need for dental care.

Hobbies

In his free time, Sammy enjoys powerlifting, regularly competing and setting new personal records. His passion for music is reflected in his ability to play both the guitar and piano, providing a creative outlet and a means to relax. We are incredibly proud to have Sammy as part of our team here at Torrington Dental Practice.
